  3. Vehicle Information - This section reports additional vehicle information, including accident data, corrected title, duplicated title, emission/safety inspection, fleet, lease, rental, livery use, government use, police use and taxi use.
  4. Vehicle History Records - This section reports the complete vehicle history in chronological order. Any problem or discrepancy event is highlighted for alert. Click here for a complete list of vehicle history descriptions.

Does the Vehicle History Report have information on vehicles manufactured for Non-US or Canadian markets?

Currently, the Consumer Guide® Vehicle History Report only reports on vehicles manufactured for U.S. and Canadian markets.

Why doesn't my Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) work?

Here are the most common reasons that a VIN might be reported as invalid.
VIN is less than 17 digits: most cars sold in North America after 1981 have a standardized 17-digit VIN. Our data provider does not offer reports for cars sold before 1981.
Entering the letters I or O instead of the numbers 1 or 0: when entering your VIN make sure that you enter 1 and 0. The letters I and O are not valid in a VIN. Try using 1 or 0 in place of these if your VIN isn't working and contains and I or 0.

What if the VIN is not 17 characters long?

If the VIN is not 17 characters long, please double-check to make sure that you have copied it down correctly. If the result of a second look is that the VIN is still less than 17 characters long, the VIN is most likely from a pre-1981 vehicle.

What about pre-1981 vehicles?

Prior to 1981, VINs varied in length from 11 to 17 characters. Presently, The Consumer Guide® Vehicle History Report can only report on vehicles that use a 17 character VIN. Therefore, information on vehicles manufactured before 1981 is limited.

Vehicle history report or as commonly known as VIN check or "car Lemon Car Check" has been used by consumer and auto dealership to uncover past history record of any vehicle.
