    BMW Auctions Off 18th Man Position on the BMW ORACLE Racing Yacht During the Louis Vuitton Cup Semifinals of the America's Cup; Proceeds to Benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure

    WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., April 20 -- Starting today at 6:00 p.m. Pacific time, BMW of North America will host a special online auction on eBay to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure -- the global grassroots movement dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer. Bidders will vie for the coveted 18th man position on the BMW ORACLE Racing Yacht until the auction closes on April 30th. BMW will send the auction's highest bidder on a truly unique, once-in-a-lifetime adventure to Valencia, Spain, where the they will occupy the 18th Man position on the BMW ORACLE Racing yacht during the 4th race of the Louis Vuitton Cup Semifinals on May 18, 2007. And, there's more for the lucky winner -- if the BMW ORACLE Racing team wins and advances to the finals, they will take the 18th Man position a second time to race with the team in the America's Cup Finals.

    The highest bidder will enjoy a four-day, three-night, trip to Valencia, including roundtrip airfare, 5-Star hotel accommodations at The Westin Valencia and $1000 spending money. In addition, Girard-Perregaux will offer the winner a luxurious R&D 01 Chrono -- USA 87 watch from its BMW ORACLE Racing collection watch (MSRP: $9,750).

    "The America's Cup is the oldest active trophy in the world of sport, and the opportunity to occupy the 18th Man position in the tournament is sure to generate excitement and a tremendous level of interest," said Tom Purves, Chairman and CEO, BMW of North America. "Over the past 10 years, BMW has enjoyed a very successful and productive relationship with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and we are pleased to offer this additional opportunity to raise funds for such a worthy organization."

    Perhaps the most prominent example of BMW's ongoing relationship with the nation's leading breast cancer nonprofit is its program, The Ultimate Drive Supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which is a grassroots nationwide fundraising effort that has raised more than $10 million for the organization to date.

    BMW and Susan G. Komen for the Cure have also partnered on three successful auctions/sweepstakes in the past. In 1999, BMW conducted the first-ever online auction of an automobile, offering bidders the first BMW X5 off the assembly line. The event raised $159,100 for the nonprofit. In 2002, BMW auctioned off an autographed BMW M5 driven by Madonna in the company's groundbreaking internet film series, "The Hire." And most recently, in 2003, the cast of the wildly popular sitcom "Friends" signed a BMW X3, which traveled across the country with The Ultimate Drive program before being raffled off to one lucky winner.

    "BMW of North America has been a very supportive fundraising partner over the past decade, and as such has helped fund essential research and crucial services for patients, survivors and their families," said Hala Moddelmog, President and Chief Executive Officer of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. "We would like to thank BMW for continuing to support the cause by finding creative ways to involve the community and help fund our ongoing search for a cure."

    Rare Enzo Ferrari Raises More Than $1.15 Million For St. Jude Children's Research Hospital(R)

    Luxury Automobile Auctioned Live at the Runway For Life(R) Celebrity Fashion Show in Beverly Hills, California

    BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Oct. 5 -- Luxury Motors in Chicago, represented by Joe Abbas, CEO, placed the winning bid of $1.15 million to become the proud owner of one of the most famous performance cars in history, an Enzo Ferrari. The rare automobile, donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by a private owner who wished to remain anonymous, was offered for sale during the live auction at the fourth annual Runway For Life(R) to benefit St. Jude. The prestigious, high-wattage, celebrity fashion event was held on September 15 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. Auctioneer Andrea Fiuczynski, president of Christie's Los Angeles presided over the live auction which placed three bidders against each other in hopes of becoming the owner of the rare car. In one of the most exciting moments of the evening, Luxury Motors placed the winning bid and became the owner of the Enzo Ferrari.

    This marks the second time that an Enzo has come up at public auction to benefit a charity. Launched in 2003 by Ferrari, only 399 of these exotic Enzos were ever manufactured and sold. One additional car was built and presented to Pope John Paul II by Ferrari, which was later auctioned for tsunami relief.

    More than 1,000 guests attended the Runway For Life(R) event, which raised more than $2.2 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and included some of Hollywood's most recognizable faces, Cindy Crawford, Anna Kournikova, Chris Klein, Lisa Rinna, Harry Hamlin, Phil Donahue, Cybill Shepherd and more. The event was co-chaired by the Thomas family (Marlo, Terre and Tony) and close family friend Robert Ellis.

    Le Mans Memorabilia on the Starting Grid

    SYDNEY, Australia, Sept. 7 -- If the smell of burning rubber does for you what coffee does for the rest of us, then an auction of Le Mans and related memorabilia will be the perfect cup of tea.

    With 150 lots up for sale -- comprising books, posters, programs, tickets, limited edition prints and thousands of photographs covering the history of the famous race -- it is arguably the largest collection of its type ever assembled in Australia.

    Le Mans entered automotive folklore following the 'Le Mans 1955 Catastrophe' which claimed 80 lives, making it the worst accident in the history of motor racing. As a result of the incident Mercedes withdrew from motor racing for more than 30 years. One of the drivers who narrowly avoided injury was the legendary Argentinean, Juan Manuel Fangio.

    The auction will be held by Charles Leski Auctions on Thursday, September 28. The pre-sale estimate is $50,000.

    Auctioneer Charles Leski says the owner is a passionate motoring aficionado who achieved his aim of compiling one of the most significant collections of Le Mans memorabilia in the world. To many, Le Mans is the holy grail of motor racing, and Mr Leski expects spirited bidding from Europe, Asia and the United States as well as Australia.

    Among the notable items for sale:

    * 1927 Le Mans Program
    Extremely rare. It was the year that Bentley won having withdrawn from
    Le Mans two years earlier after disappointing results. [Pre-sale
    estimate: $1,000-$1,500]

    * Le Mans Newspapers
    Fabulous collection of newspapers, and supplements from 1938-2000 (more
    than 315 items).including a very detailed section on the 1955 Le Mans
    Catastrophe. [Pre-sale estimate: $1,000-$1,500]

    * Photographs
    Huge collection of photographs from approx. 1969-2000 (more than 2,500
    items). Contained in 18 albums featuring the cars and races. [Pre-sale
    estimate: $400-$800].

    * Official Le Mans Posters
    Significant collection of 32 posters from 1982. [Pre-sale estimate:
    $400-$800].

    Gooding & Company to Sell Two Significant Vehicles at Pebble Beach Auction to Benefit Michigan Hospital
    Proceeds Will Be Donated to Beaumont Hospital's Ministrelli Women's Heart Center In Royal Oak

    SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 3 -- As part of this year's Pebble Beach Auction presented by Gooding & Company, two significant vehicles from the collection of J. Peter Ministrelli will be auctioned to benefit the Ministrelli Women's Heart Center at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.

    Gooding & Company, the official auction house of the Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance, will include among the approximately 80 other vehicles they are offering for sale, a 1938 Bugatti Type 57 Atalante Coupe with one-off coachwork by Gangloff and a 1934 Duesenberg Model J Riviera Phaeton with coachwork by Brunn. All proceeds from the sale of these two very special cars will be donated to the Ministrelli Women's Heart Center.

    "We are honored to be part of such a generous and worthy undertaking," said David Gooding, president of the auction house. "It is now Gooding & Company's job to maximize the amount of the donation on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. J. Peter Ministrelli and Beaumont Hospital."
    The cars to be auctioned to benefit Beaumont Hospital are: 1938 Bugatti Type 57 Atalante Coupe
    Chassis number 57633-463 was custom-ordered from Bugatti and included several modifications from the factory specification, such as unique rear bodywork, bumpers and wheel discs. Without a doubt, it is the only Atalante built new with such features. Starting in 2004, a no-expense spared restoration was undertaken by Classic & Exotic Service, Inc. of Michigan. According to the consignor, this very special Atalante is in "100-point show condition." One of the most fantastic of the bodies available on the Type 57, this is a stunning and one-of-a-kind example of an Atalante. All of the proceeds from the sale of this Bugatti will be directly donated by Mr. and Mrs. J. Peter Ministrelli to the Heart Center.

    1934 Duesenberg Model J Riviera Phaeton

    Because this Duesenberg (chassis number 2550) was one of only three Model J's fitted with a Riviera Phaeton body by Brunn, it is likely that this was the car built in late 1933 as the 1934 show car. This model was the first four-door convertible to have its top completely concealed when folded - the rear body section tilted back, allowing the top to be folded and then concealed once that rear section was lowered. This Brunn Duesenberg was comprehensively restored by Brian Joseph of Classic & Exotic Service, Inc. of Michigan. As part of the restoration, the car was disassembled to its bare chassis and all mechanical components were rebuilt and properly finished. In show condition, chassis 2550 is a fine example of a Duesenberg J with exceedingly rare and beautiful coachwork by Brunn. Although most Model J's are used primarily for show or display, the extensive work performed by Classic & Exotic Service, Inc. ensures that this Duesey can be driven as well. All of the proceeds from the sale of this Duesenberg will be applied towards a future pledge by Mr. and Mrs. J. Peter Ministrelli to the Heart Center.

    The Ministrelli Women's Heart Center at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, was created with the generous philanthropy of J. Peter and Florine Ministrelli. It is the first center in Michigan dedicated to the detection, prevention and treatment of heart disease in women, the number one killer of women today. Beaumont Hospital is a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization.

    The auction, which takes place Sunday evening, August 20th at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center, is the final event of the internationally renowned Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. All of the vehicles to be auctioned by Gooding & Company at Pebble Beach will be on display beginning Thursday, August 17, in the showroom at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center where the auction will take place shortly after the close of the Concours on Sunday, August 20.

    Gooding & Company (http://www.goodingco.com/) provides unparalleled service for those in the close-knit world of classic car collecting. Record Bids Expected at Gooding & Co Car Auction
    Fabulous Finale to the Pebble Beach Concours
    SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 27 -- A 1927 Bugatti Type 35C, expected to bring $2 to $2.5 million, which would be the highest sale price for a Bugatti Grand Prix car sold at auction, will most likely pace the bidding in what should be a record total at this year's Gooding & Company Pebble Beach Auction, the culminating event of the annual 10-days of historic automotive activities on the Monterey Peninsula.

    Last year, the Pebble Beach Auction, official auction of the renowned Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance, resulted in 64 vehicle sales totaling more than $22 million, including six world-record bids.

    "This year we expect the bid totals to be no less than $20 million, but are much more likely to come in at about $25 million, a watershed amount for this sale," explained David Gooding, founder and president of the auction house. "In addition to the 75 remarkable cars like the Grand Prix Bugatti, we have unique automobiles, automobilia and automotive art from James A. Conant's collection, which should see record prices along with spirited competition.

    "We have two very special lots, vehicles consigned by J. Peter and Florine Ministrelli who have pledged the full proceeds from their sales to the Ministrelli Women's Heart Center at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Mich."

    The entire auction catalog will be on display at the heart of Concours-related festivities from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily beginning Thursday, August 17 in the Gooding & Company showroom at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center. An exclusive, invitation-only preview reception will be held Friday evening at the Center.

    James A. Conant's collection, much of which will be sold in a written-bid auction which closes at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, August 20, includes original artwork by Peter Helck, Stanley Wanlass, Carlo Demand and Walter Gotschke, all to be sold without reserve.

    "We believe Helck's 'A Motor Race on the Continent in the Early Days' (which graces the cover of the auction's catalog, available for viewing at www.goodingco.com ) will be purchased for between $100,000 and $150,000, easily topping the $90,500 previous high for automotive art at auction," said Gooding.

    "Adding the Conant collection, for which there is intense interest amongst collectors, to our already impressive selection of vehicles for this year's Pebble Beach Auction, further solidifies my belief the numbers will be unparalleled," he added. "This is a very good time for classic vehicles as collectibles -- good for buyers and the right time for sellers."

    A 1938 Bugatti Atalante Coupe by Gangloff, a 1965 Shelby GT-350R Mustang, a 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Coupe known as the "Harrah Hot-Rod" and a 1955 Lincoln Indianapolis Coupe by Boano are featured consignments for the live auction which will begin in the evening of Sunday, August 20, shortly after the conclusion of the Concours.

    Cars from the Conant Collection, offered without reserve, include a rare 1914 Stutz Bearcat, a 1902 Autocar Rear-Entrance Tonneau, a 1904 Searchmont Rear-Entrance Tonneau, a 1912 Columbia T-Head Cavalier Touring and a 1914 Locomobile Model 48 7-Passenger Touring.

    "We have traveled the world to find not only the finest cars, but ones that have not been presented to the market for sale in many, many years," explained Gooding. "That is what makes our auction so different from others, both past and present."

    Some of the more significant cars on consignment to Gooding & Company for the auction are:

    1938 Bugatti Atalante

    To be sold without reserve, this is one of the vehicles consigned by the Ministrellis for to benefit the Ministrelli Women's Heart Center. Chassis number 57633-463 was bodied by Gangloff and was custom-ordered from Bugatti. It included several modifications from the cataloged style, such as unique rear bodywork, bumpers and wheel discs. It is the only Atalante built new with such features. Starting in 2004, a no-expense-spared restoration was undertaken by Classic & Exotic Service, Inc.

    1955 Lincoln Indianapolis Coupe by Boano

    This wild, circa 1950s-chic, one-off design study was built by Carrozzeria Boano. First shown at the 1955 Turin auto show, the car was intended to lure Ford Motor Co. into a similar arrangement to the one Ghia enjoyed with Chrysler. Henry Ford II was reportedly so taken with the car, he bought it before the show closed. Ford subsequently offered Boano a contract to open an exclusive Ford design studio, but it all came to naught when Boano instead signed a deal with Fiat. In 2001, the car won Postwar Custom Coachwork Best in Class at the Pebble Beach Concours. It has also won awards at the Amelia Island concours, the Bethlehem concours and the Greenwich concours.

    1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Coupe

    Known as "The Harrah Hot-Rod," this Ferrari was custom built for casino magnate and car collector Bill Harrah. The West Coast distributor for Ferrari, Harrah complained to Enzo Ferrari his new 512 BB Boxer was not as good as his previous Ferrari, a Daytona. Enzo responded by prepping a special "hot-rodded" Daytona, modeled after the competition 365 GTB/4s. It sports a high-performance-tuned motor, flared fenders and racing wheels. Famous for his 1,200-plus car museum in Reno, Harrah frequently used this car to commute between his Reno and Lake Tahoe Casinos.

    1965 Shelby GT350 R-Model

    Driven by Mexican racer Pedro Rodriguez, this car won its class at the 1967 Sebring 12 Hour race. Shelby-destined Mustangs began life on regular Ford production lines, but were assembled without hoods, grilles, rear seats, exhaust systems, or emblems. At the Shelby-American facility in Los Angeles, the cars were up-graded both mechanically and with special GT350 body modifications. Engine output was upped to 306 horsepower from the optional high-performance 289-cubic-inch V8. R-Model GT350s received additional modifications intended to make them an even more formidable competitor on the race track. A total of 562 Shelby GT350s were built in 1965, 37 of which were the lightweight race or R-models.

    Gooding & Company (www.goodingco.com ) provides unparalleled service for those in the close-knit world of classic car collecting. The auction house has set numerous world records including the highest price paid for an American car at auction (1935 Duesenberg Mormon Meteor) and a Ferrari road car (1967 NART Spyder). And at this year's inaugural Gooding & Company Palm Beach Auction in Florida, a Talbot-Lago Teardrop Coupe sold for $3,905,000.
