Harley-Davidson Plans to Get Motorcycle Dreamers in Gear This Summer
- Launches New Campaign With Super Model and Harley Enthusiast Marisa Miller in the Maxim Hot 100 Issue -
MILWAUKEE, May 12 -- Someday I'll lose weight. Someday I'll visit New Zealand. Someday I'll hit Route 66 on a motorcycle. Well, someday, is here.
This week Harley-Davidson kick-started their new Start Something campaign, which is designed to encourage men to stop dreaming and start riding this summer. The campaign, which features super model and motorcycle enthusiast Marisa Miller, kicks into gear this week around the Maxim Hot 100 issue, including an in-book ad, as well as exposure at the Maxim Hot 100 party in Los Angeles, on the Maxim Web site, social communities and their television program.
To help get men in gear, Harley-Davidson is also providing a few perks. Men can register for the chance to win one of hundreds of free Rider's Edge New Rider Training Courses, as well as an exclusive package featuring the chance for one lucky winner and four friends to:
-- Participate in the Rider's Edge New Rider Training Course together;
-- Select the Harley-Davidson motorcycles of their choice;
-- Go on the road trip of a lifetime; and
-- Meet super model Marisa Miller
"This is the most ambitious effort the Motor Company has ever undertaken to encourage men to ride," said Dino Bernacchi, Harley-Davidson's director of Advertising and Promotions. "We know men from as young as 18 to 55 and older are dreaming about participating in our sport. With over 30 bikes to choose from and starting at just $6,999, there's no reason to wait until 'down the road.' Today really is the day to 'start something.'"
American Muscle Meets American Bombshell
The Start Something campaign extends the unique relationship Harley-Davidson has enjoyed with Marisa Miller, who first linked up with the Motor Company in 2008 to help launch the Harley-Davidson VRSCF V-Rod Muscle motorcycle. Miller's role in the Start Something campaign is to encourage...and challenge men to live out their dreams.
In addition to the new Start Something spread featuring Marisa and her favorite ride in the Maxim Hot 100 issue, men can also visit www.harley-davidson.com/start to download exclusive photos of Marisa and her motorcycle, as well as view behind-the-scenes video from the ad shoot.
Born in the coastal city of Santa Cruz, California, Marisa first appeared in the 2002 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, securing her position within the modeling industry. As a result, clients such as Victoria's Secret hired the blond bombshell to endorse their brands. Other companies followed suit, and soon Marisa began appearing in publicity campaigns for the likes of Tommy Hilfiger, J. Crew, Victoria's Secret, Andrew Marc, True Religion Jeans, Remington, NFL and Guitar Hero to name a few. Marisa has graced the covers of magazines like Vogue, Esquire, Shape, Cosmo, Maxim, Sports Illustrated and Ocean Drive and has appeared on talk shows such as David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, and Ellen.
